privacy notice

How we handle your data.

Initial version for an early-access (Phase-0) site — last updated 2026-06-13. This explains how we handle data on this site; it is information, not legal advice, and we will update it (and have it reviewed by counsel) as Jacent grows. Material changes will be posted here with a new date.

Who we are

“Jacent” is the trading name for the team building the Jacent game-backend platform (“we”, “us”, “our”). This site is an informational and design-partner enquiry site only. You can reach us about any privacy matter at hello@jacent.net.

What we collect, and why

The only data we collect on this site is what you choose to enter in the “book a call” form: your name, work email, studio/company, role, optionally whether you hold backend budget, and your message, plus the fact that you ticked the consent box. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry and discuss the Jacent design-partner programme. We do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell it.

Lawful basis

We rely on (a) your consent — the checkbox you tick when submitting the form — and (b) our legitimate interest in replying to a business enquiry you initiated and in business-to-business contact with the professional address you gave us. You can withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.

Marketing email

If we email you it will relate to the enquiry you sent. Every such email identifies Jacent as the sender and includes a working way to unsubscribe. Opt out any time at hello@jacent.net.

Retention

We keep enquiry data for 24 months from your last contact with us, then delete it automatically, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.

Storage, security and processors

Enquiry data is stored in Amazon Web Services (US East / N. Virginia) using reputable cloud and form/email providers acting as our processors. As configured today: traffic to the site uses HTTPS/TLS; the stored record holds a salted one-way hash of your IP address, not the raw address; the datastore uses server-side encryption and an automatic time-to-live that deletes records on the retention schedule above. We will keep the processor list current; ask us who they are at hello@jacent.net.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK/EU data-protection law (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision). Ask us for details at hello@jacent.net.

Cookies and analytics

We set no non-essential cookies. Any privacy-respecting analytics run only if you opt in, and never before. We honour Do-Not-Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals: if we detect one, analytics stay off.

Children

This site is intended for professional, business users (game developers and studios). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 through it.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or port your data, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time — email hello@jacent.net and we will respond. In the UK/EEA, if you are unhappy with how we handle your data you may complain to your supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office, ico.org.uk).
